Bedroom Lighting Guide
How do you coordinate bedroom lights?

Consider the area

Bedrooms are practical as well as relaxation spaces, so plan your lighting accordingly. Use a mixture of task, mood and accent lighting to create a layered scheme that will work at any time of day and across the seasons – cosy in winter, light and airy in summer .For bedroom lighting,  ambient light is best achieved with ceiling fixtures (like flush mount ceiling lights, chandeliers, pendant lights, etc.) or through portable, like floor lamps. Both lighting types will offer a sufficient amount of lighting for activities that don’t require bright, focused light.

Think about Energy Efficiency

Although once known mainly for indicator and traffic lights, LEDs in white light, general illumination applications are today’s most energy-efficient and rapidly-developing lighting technology. LEDs use up to 90% less energy and last up to 25 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.

Types of Bedroom Lighting

Ceiling Lights

Ceiling lights are the main light source of your sitting room area. They are available as a flush light were the fitting is attached flush to the ceiling, semi flush where the light sits close to, but not flush with the ceiling. Pendants are lights which hang down to your desired length. This can be individual or as a chandelier which consists of more than one light.

Spots & Downlights

Spotlights can be used in areas of interest when used on a track with more than one or used individually as a surface mounted. These types offer more directional lighting and can be turned on a 160 degree angle. Down lights can come in various colour temperatures, when bought as LED, some having all three built in for your convenience enabling to choose your preferred look from warm white, cool white to day white. Other downlights which take a bulb cannot. Downlights can be placed to cover the full ceiling area to be used as a main lighting source or to light up darker areas.
